The News

The Academy @ St James Shopping has reopened and is now operating under the banner of Joined Up For Jobs.

Purpose

Under the banner of Joined Up For Jobs it will deliver the key aspects of the Jobs Strategy’s Employer Offer in practice.

The Service

Initially - a comprehensive Employer Engagement Service focusing on vacancies and opportunities within the St James Shopping Centre and the ‘String of Pearls’

Developing into - a wider portfolio developing across the city to the North, South and East areas.

The west of the city will be served by the Airport Expansion Project which will complement the Academy services.

Target Audience

Employers in the Retail, Leisure, Tourism and Hospitality Sectors.

The Offer to Employers

Employers will be invited to advertise vacancies with the network and provide placement and other opportunities as appropriate. They will be asked to offer information on the key skills they are looking for in applicants, so that we can better tailor our employability training to meet their needs. Employers will also be offered help to train existing staff.

The Invitation to the Network

To act as a conduit between the network and employers, coordinate the employer offer, promote JU4J’s clients to employers and promote the services of other Joined Up For Jobs organisations to employers. To capture the opportunities from new developments coming into the City for the benefits of our clients. To negotiate guaranteed interviews and other concessions for appropriate vacancies or bulk recruiters.

Vacancies and opportunities identified will be shared with Joined Up For Jobs organisations through the Noticeboard. It will be updated regularly and will be available to organisations to refer job ready clients through the Academy. The Academy will tailor services to meet employer’s needs and will match applicants against employer’s criteria.

A marketing plan will be developed to effectively update employers and this will include face to face meetings and regular bulletins.

The role of the JU4J Network
