Edinburgh’s Jobs Strategy: A Cities Strategy Pathfinder
A Vision for Edinburgh
"Our vision is to integrate the publicly-funded activities under our control to optimise results and to increase recruitment of people from disadvantaged groups. We will co-operate with employers to help them fill vacancies, recruit from target groups and aid progression in work to improve employment sustainability."
From the Business Plan
A Cities Strategy Pathfinder
Joined Up For Jobs is one of fifteen Pathfinders for the Cities Strategy of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). This means that we have agreed our Business Plan and targets with the DWP and that we report quarterly to them on progress. The experience of developing our local employment strategy feeds in to the DWP’s development of policies about localisation. For more information about this, see the pages on the Cities Strategy on the DWP’s website (www.dwp.gov.uk/policy/welfare-reform/city-strategy/).
Workforce Plus
The Scottish Government’s employability framework is called Workforce Plus. It also proposes local strategies to join up all the services which are relevant to employability, and so dovetails with the DWP’s Cities Strategy. Joined Up For Jobs is in effect Edinburgh’s Workforce Plus partnership and we participate fully in the Scottish Government’s activities to promote this approach, in particular the National Delivery Group for Workforce Plus. It operates within the Community Planning framework and the targets are the same as those in Edinburgh’s Single Outcomes Agreement.
