Funding and Advice


Financial Incentives for Recruitment and Training


There is a range of financial incentives available to employers via Jobcentre Plus:

  • £1000 recruitment subsidy if you recruit someone who had been receiving Jobseekers Allowance for 6 months or more. Financial help with training may also be available from Skills Development Scotland
  • Modern Apprenticeships provide advice and assistance with training recruits in gaining industry recognised qualifications to level 3 or above
  • Skillseekers provide advice and assistance with training recruits in gaining industry recognised qualifications to level 2

New Deal

Jobcentre Plus specialist advisors are there to assist  customers back into work, please ask at your local Jobcentre Plus office.

Modern Apprenticeships

Modern Apprenticeships offer those aged over sixteen in paid employment the opportunity to train for jobs at craft, technician and management level. They are an exciting way of gaining skills and qualifications that will help to start a career without having to study full-time and are available across a wide range of industries. All Modern Apprenticeships are developed by the industry or sector in which they will be used and deliver all the skills needed to become a craftsman, technician or manager in that area.

Skillseekers

Skillseekers is a vocational training programme for young people who want to develop skills and equip themselves for the world of work. It is open to young people aged 16 – 18 who have left school and have a job or are looking for work.

Training is offered up to SVQ Level 2 (SCQF 5). Skillseekers offers employers training to meet your company’s needs and is set to industry standards. A contribution towards the costs of training the young people may be available through Skills Development Scotland
