The main partners in the strategy are:

City of Edinburgh Council

The City of Edinburgh Council is the local statutory authority with a range of responsibilities, including community planning, education, and local economic and social inclusion policy. As lead agent for the strategy it has a key role in influencing the development of national and European policy through demonstrating more effective approaches to meeting the needs of the local labour market.

Capital City Partnership

A coalition of statutory, voluntary and community agencies in Edinburgh working together to promote social inclusion and achieve social justice for local people. The Partnership focuses on jobs, health inequalities and early interventions.

Jobcentre Plus

Jobcentre Plus, part of the Department for Work and Pensions, brings together employment and benefit services for people of working age, and is a key element in the Government's objectives to help people based on 'Work for those who can, support for those who cannot'.

Skills Development Scotland

Skills Development Scotland is Scotland's new skills body, bringing together four partner organisations with a shared vision to drive forward real, positive and sustained change in Scotland's skills performance. Through this new body Scotland now has a dynamic, forward-looking organisation which will deliver comprehensive information, advice and guidance for careers and learning as well as extensive support for skills development. The partner organisations which have come together to form Skills Development Scotland are Careers Scotland, Scottish University for Industry and key skills elements from Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

As part of its wide remit, Skills Development Scotland is working to reduce economic inactivity among young people and is seeking to increase productivity by providing access to career planning support for people of all ages, and contributes to Joined Up For Jobs through its focus on employability support.

Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce

Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce is a membership organisation representing businesses in and around the city. In addition to being a voice for businesses of all sizes and sectors it also focusses on advice, training and education and networking.

NHS Lothian

NHS Lothian employs approximately 28,000 staff and provides a comprehensive range of health care services in community settings and hospitals across Lothian, serving the populations of Edinburgh, Midlothian, East Lothian and West Lothian. It is involved in the city’s Jobs Strategy Group because the evidence shows that being in work is good for people’s health.  With the Jobs Strategy Group it has established a post to ensure that healthcare practitioners are aware of employment issues and see helping people back into work as an important factor in the care of their patient.
