Employability

This Scottish Government facilitated website has been designed as a practical guide for anyone who is involved in employability. It is intended to help you understand what employability is, your role in it and how to design, deliver and measure the impact of employability approaches. The Guide provides a range of information, insights and practical examples which will be useful for: funders of employability services; project/service managers from employability, regeneration, health and other related services; and practitioners and frontline workers involved in an array of different services.

Get Ready for Work

Get Ready for Work is a training programme aimed at school leavers who, without additional support would be unable to access employment or further training. Referrals to Get Ready for Work should be made through Careers Scotland whose advisors will make an initial assessment on eligibility and appropriateness of Get Ready for Work.

Modern Apprenticeships

Modern Apprenticeships (MAs) offer high quality training for jobs at craft, technician and management level across a range of industries. The programme offers an exciting way of gaining skills and qualifications to help kick-start employees' careers, without having to study full-time. They are aimed at those in-work, aged 16 or above and capable of achieving a Vocational Qualification at level three or above.

New Deal

Skillseekers

The Skillseeker programme is targeted at school leavers and young people aged 16-18 entering the labour market. The programme delivers VQ2 qualifications to eligible young people.

Training for Work

Training for Work provides a range of training support for people aged 25 or over, who have been unemployed for more than 6 months in a 12 month period (though there are exceptions to this rule) and are actively looking for work. The Access Point

A multi-agency ‘one stop’ service, seeking both short term and long term solutions as appropriate.  An initial assessment considers support and care needs and an immediate referral may be made to a social worker, health professional or resettlement worker.
