19 February 2018

Cyrenians Market Led Training are delighted to announce that our next training course will be a Construction course aimed at giving participants the knowledge, skills and confidence to pursue a career in construction - a sector of growth within Edinburgh.

This is a great opportunity for people who are aged 18 or over, currently an Edinburgh resident and interested in getting a job in the construction sector.

The course is delivered through Skills Development Scotland Employability Fund.

The course provides training for anyone who is looking to work in construction and will support people towards a General Operative role, giving them all the knowledge and certification required to work in this field - including all the support, training and funding for the CSCS test (with the "Green Card" costs covered), Safety Plus, Manual Handling, Working at heights and Emergency First Aid.

We will also ensure that all trainees leave the course with the right Personal Protective Equipment to do the job including work boots, high vis jacket, gloves and hard hat.

The course will also cover effective communication skills and personal effectiveness as well as employability skills such as CV development and interview skills.

By the end of the course, we aim for all trainees to have the skills, knowledge and certification to gain and sustain employment in the construction industry.

The course has been designed with input from construction employers and will include a chance for a site visit to get a practical view on life on a construction site.

It is a two-week course followed by a 2-week work placement to get some site experience.

The construction industry values diversity and celebrates individual differences, believing that an inclusive culture helps businesses continue to grow. Our aim is to attract people from diverse backgrounds to help us build our inclusive culture.

Course dates: Monday 19 February - Friday 2 March.
