Skills and Employment

Both vocational skills and employability skills are vital to the Jobs Strategy. To date the focus has been on improving and co-ordinating employability provision in the city.

Now work is underway to integrate the offer of vocational skills training into the employability pathway and to match supply and demand for skills in the city. For example Jobcentre Plus and Skills Development Scotland are co-operating to ensure that benefit claimants are pointed towards opportunities for careers advice.

A Skills Summit for Edinburgh and Lothian took place on 26 November 2010. A report on the event and presentations from the key speakers are available on this website at http://joinedupforjobs.org.uk/skills-summit.html
